A lot of things have changed. What hasn't is that at the end of each day I can't seem to find time to work on my own website. Therefore, My Website 2.0 is chugging along behind my other website redesign and ecommerce implementation projects. And now that I'm about to launch not only a new website but actually start my own company, I am going to make this website more of a personal site. This is where I'll list my favorite and most recommended online resources as well as demonstrate new techniques. So with that note, I will be implementing my very own blogging tool - just 4 years behind. I know.

Web 2.0

I have been networking with Women In Consulting and attending a few Web 2.0 events sponsored by them - Web 2.0 Marketing Strategy and Publish 2.0 For Success. A few things come to mind. One I have been doing Web 1.0 10 years ago and I have been doing Web 2.0 all along before anyone know what to call it. The big buzz I got 3 years ago was building a real community website for Lamorinda Moms Club (LMC) for 600 moms in Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda. Since then the moms club have been the target for "testing" for all sorts of online community start ups (I'm not going to name any). Since I architected and built the website for the moms club, I have a lot of saying the direction of our moms community... I never gave in to the pressure of converting out website to any of the so called "community hosted model". I always choose to protect the privacy of our members. Period. I never want to make any of our data available to any online advertisers in the way Facebook or MySpace have. Moms opinion is not for sale -- not Lamorinda Moms anyways.

Staying on Top

I'll be staying on top by keep on learning.  You can find me at these following events in the month of August, 2008: Profit from the Internet – Leveraging Internet Technology for Success by East Bay Business Women Roundtable and Oakland Chamber of Commerce, Web Analytics Wednesday San Francisco by Web Analytics Demystified, Web Analytics - Measuring Engagement In The Social Media Revolution by Web Guild of Silicon Valley, and Blog Your Business to Another Level: Building Business Through a Dynamic, Interactive Web Presence by Women In Consulting.  That should keep my brain very very happy this month.

I completed my third Web Analytics class with University of British Columbia. It's called Creating and Managing The Analytics Business Culture. What a fun class that was! I'm joking. Apparently it's the same politics I was accustomed to before breaking out on my own. The difference is I had to pay to participate and that it is more organized and predictable.
